"Legacy Paint to Cosmic Abstraction Tubes of paint left behind by the departed Aunt Ruth, my maternal grandmother's youngest sister and roommate of 40 years, left to be discarded. Colors and brands, mixes that I might never have experienced otherwise. Tubes of color looking to live on through brush motion once more. My intention upon rescuing these was to use them and channel history as best I might; the vehicle acrylic-fueled time travel. In touch with an artist who perhaps genetically and artistically forged my path.
Working with momentum and fury, in order to NOT plan, knowing that Ruth was a woman of extremes (& martinis} and passion who reserved the right to change her mind. Then, I redact considering my progress, cautiously editing as I 'return' from my mental 'lineage' trip, home to my studio a new abstract canvas on the wall as my souvenir."
